Finally changed the blog song. It's "No Woman, No Cry" by Bob Marley. It's an inspirational song dedicated to Trenchtown, where Bob Marley spent most of his youth. His message is to tell the people in the ghettos of Trenchtown to be strong and not worry about their suffering, because, as he says in the song, "Ev'rything's gonna be alright". The eponymous line "No, woman, no cry" is actually sung, "no, woman, nuh cry", the nuh being the contraction of "no" in Jamaican Patois, which is a dilect of english. It has the same meaning as "don't". So the title actually means, "no woman, don't cry".

The song was credited to a friend of his called Vincent Ford, known as Tata to his friends. Ford ran a soup kitchen in Trenchtown, which literally saved Bob Marley from starving to death. By crediting the song to Ford, Marley hoped that the royalties would give him a better life, and help run the soup kitchen. It is unclear whether Ford actually wrote the song.

meet at Marina Bay MRT Station at 1.45pm. then we take the shuttle bus there :D haha so yes please be on time okay.

alternatively teckchye sarah goh mag and i are going bras basah in the afternoon around say 12pm? to buy guitar and harmonica :D so yes if you're interested haha.

bring some food (personally prepared food is preferred :D) and definetely water haha. if you do have bring your kites and guitars (or any musical instruments).

2. Sarah Teo's concert at Botanic Gardens (19 June, Saturday)

ok it starts at like 6pm but yes we should go as early as possible haha. my cip ends at 5pm though so ya can't meet up with you guys :/ so ya maybe you all can meet at Commonwealth MRT at say 4.30pm then take 100 there? haha.

at that time the sun will almost be down so yes, find a nice patch to relax and bring anything that you wanna bring to chill (e.g. board games, food, frisbee, your pet, camera, more food).

ohbtw this is also for our langarts homework ya so do remember to bring your worksheet along so you can write down stuff :D

3. Singapore Arts Museum (18 June, Friday)

ok this one is something i've just decided but yes i think it's a good idea yes? also for our lang arts homework :D

oh and i've chosen friday as the admission is free on friday nights :D furthermore it would be really splendid to spend the night with a light dinner as a class and then strolling in the museum and perhaps enjoying the night view :D

so yes tentatively the plan will be to meet at Bras Basah MRT Station at say 6pm? then eat our dinner and walk around the museum from 7pm to 9pm :D

1. Meet at Cityhall Mrt station passenger service at 11a.m on Thursday, 18th March 2010. We'll be going to the Seoul Garden outlet at Marina Square.
2. Bring $15 if u're just going for Seoul Garden but bring more if u want to do things (e.g go kbox) after lunch.
3. Bring an extra shirt if u don't want people to faint from getting a whiff of Seoul Garden from ur clothes.

Anyway, would like to draw your attention to this:

1000 MILES OF PARKOUR

This guy, Johnny "Sticky" Budden, is running all the way from the northern part of UK(John O'Groats, if you know where that is) to Paris, the birthplace of parkour. He will only use his body during this journey, so he's like running a marathon daily. He is not doing this for fun, or to show off. He is running to raise money and awareness, but mostly money, for Motor Neurone Disease(henceforth referred to as MND). MND is a debilitating disease which affects motor neurones in the Central Nervous System. If you're not sure what that does you're screwed, because Bio test is tomorrow. Anyway, basically your motor neurones start dying, and essentially you end up being unable to control your muscles. If you've read Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom, the disease that ultimately kills Morrie, Lou Gehrig's disease, is a form of MND. Basically you slowly start losing control of your body. One day you can't run properly. Then maybe you can't feed yourself. Then you can't control your bowels. You can't wipe your behind after emptying your bowels. You get the idea.

Anyway, Sticky is raising money for a charity where the beneficiaries are MND patients. Treatment isn't cheap and even then they eventually waste away and die anyway. My point in posting this is, if you are able to, or if your parents, friends, relatives, anyone you know who is able to, please donate. If you don't wanna do so out of the kindness of your heart, for any donation you give, you can request that Sticky do a little task. Essentially, that means you can make him strut around in a mankini for a cent. He will do his best to fulfill requests. But don't donate a cent and ask him to strut around in a mankini. That's just evil. Every little bit helps.

Post 3L Chalet review

What greeted me on an early Sunday morning was an anxious sounding sms from bucket, saying that weather will not hold up but I believed that it would, simply because we are all good people and that the heavens will take pity on us on the 1st day, that's why I didn't quite worry :) I must say that I was looking forward to the chalet probably because it is the first (and probably the last :( ) class "outing" im having with this cute class lol.

Well, thank goodness when i boarded the train, Fran and Gin Jean didn't say Qi3 Li4, Xing2 Li3 or else I would have freaked out and perhaps every passenger would have stood up and bowed too LOL. As for the train journey, though painfully long, it was enjoyable as I terrorised Sweet Nee and Felihia with my witty jokes :P

Anywayz, I must say that the chalet on the whole could have been better if more class activities / games (and I mean everyone participates in the same activity) were held, eg charade or some other hilarious games, and NOT water bomb or gun games! Sigh@ Fran for betraying the teachers' trust, to think that all 3 of us were SO NICE to u and u still did this to us :( We felt SOOO Hurt :(((

As for the BBQ, I think that food should have been bought from the wholesaler, so much cheaper! zzz..yes, I flipped when i realised that there would not b any bbq chicken wings -_-"

I am just soo amazed by how u guys can keep gg to the arcade without feeling bored LOL but daytona was fun, the amoeba proved to be quite a huge challenge despite its evolutionary stage :P I really think that it is a pity that we all didn't get to go to KBox as a class!

Well, despite the pockets of boredom now and then, I must say that I did enjoy myself :) I did feel sad when I was leaving the chalet as I was already missing this class :( 3L, thanks for the unforgettable, wonderful and happy moments. Every unique individual in this class will always have a place in my heart :)

A nightmarish bus journey to sch today

My heart goes out to all who take 963 to sch everyday. Now I understand why those who take this bus do turn up late for sch. Gosh, I was traumatised during the TWO HOUR bus journey today! I confidently boarded the bus close to 7 am this morning, thinking that i could make it for the meeting at 8 am! Guess what! The bus was still at bukit batok area at abt 7.55 am! Why so? Firstly, the bus route is ridiculously long! It stops at almost every bus stop that u can imagine and goes to every corner in bkt panjang and bkt batok! In fact, I thought I saw my sec sch classmate but wasn't quite sure if i got the right person lol. anyway, the passengers refused to move to the back of the bus so the driver literally stopped the bus at every stop and waited for them to move to the back before going off so that wasted soo much time! I cannot believe that I sat in the bus for 2 hours, how shocking! Still, I must hand it to those of u who take 963 everyday to sch, i salute ya!

heya all,
Tmr's the last day of school. It's been a really amazing year with many rollercoaster moments that have taught us many lessons. I would like to say that in all my 6 yrs of teaching, 3L is indeed the best form class I have ever had and I mean it sincerely. This is the first time im not looking forward to the end of the term as I know that I will not get to see or teach 3L again :( Still, I hope that all of ya will stay so happy and nice next year, and be good to your 4L form teacher :) Make him/her happy just like how all of ya have done so for Miss Neo (I hope she continues to be ur form teacher next yr!) and I :) We really love this class and our only hope is for u guys to perform exceedingly well in yr 4 and get at least 3.5 GPA!

Although I started the year on a harsh tone with my constant reprimands and lecturing, I think all those have done some good as you guys are much more sensible now and know how to toe the line by fulfilling your duty as a student. I always believe in picking on the students' bad habits and making them change before releasing my grip bit by bit. Do bear in mind that moral and character development is very important, your integrity and honesty will stand u in good stead. Honour your words, make them count. Be the role model for your juniors to emulate. I believe that with a class that is full of school leaders, the positive influence will stay throughout your years in RV.

Of course, this positive class culture would not have been possible without the great influence from your class chairpersons. One is sane and the other is a little ermmm imbalanced lol, thus they complement each other very well. Let's applaud and cheer them very loudly tomorrow when they receive the best chairpersons award. It was not easy for us to fight for them to clinch the award, given the tough competition coming from other classes but im so glad that our persistence paid off and they got the award that they deserve. Thank you Jean Jean and Francis, for the excellent work u guys have done, for taking so much initiative to help the teachers, for bonding the class so well, for cultivating a positive outlook towards everything with your optimism, for being so sweet to the teachers esp to your form teachers and for being such patient chairpersons. The two of u make a great team, working hand in hand, and indeed are the BEST chairpersons I ever have. What more can I ask for from the best chairpersons...

Thank u 3L for making this class sucha memorable one, I hope that ALL of u will take Gothic Literature next year so that I can still have an enjoyable time teaching ya all. I will miss u guys' daily lame jokes! LOL. Anyway, do keep this blog alive so that I can keep up with what's happening to all of ya ok? Take care, rest well and enjoy your holidays!

Just when i was stressed up this afternoon about almost everything and anything related to my big day tmr, a huge beautiful butterfly came flying in near me and danced about the flowers. It really brought a huge smile to my face. Afterward, when I was packing some stuff and saw the empty box that once used to contain my favourite pendant, I thought I would never find it again until my maid who was moving my piano to clean up the place, found it. Both things made me really happy :)

ONCE AGAIN, for people who don't listen or read......

BBqun is a group I set up for 3L. Basically how it works is that it connects you to a server through the contact in your msn contact list called BBqunblahblahblah.....and that server acts as a chat channel for everyone in the group. So whatever you type to that contact can be seen by everyone who is online. And the admins(currently just me; I'll make Jean and Francis admins when they come online, and if more than 2 admins are possible Ms Hia and Ms Neo will be admins too.) can see all the chat logs by typing admin and clicking one of the links(yet to figure out which one) that appear. The reason why I didn't use Windows Live Groups was because there's a 20 person limit. The BBqun groups have no limit(that I know of) to the number of people in the group, there's an anti-spam feature, the ability to change your display name only in the bbqun conversation window(without actually affecting your Windows Live dn, which allows you to play with people's minds) and admins get suns beside their nick :)

The important part:
Type who for a list of people who are online.
Usage: who
A list of display names should appear with a number to the left, and the person's status
to the right. For those of you who have utterly failed Chinese, 在线 means online, 忙碌
means busy, 离开 means away and 空闲 means idle.

Type rename to change your display name in the conversation window
Usage: For example, I want to change my name to Timbob Dudameister. I type in
rename Timbob Dudameister
You should receive a confirmation message in green(in chinese) that you have changed your
nickname to Timbob Dudameister.

Type help for a list of commands you can type.
Usage: help
A list of commands with explanation to the right of the commands will appear. Please note
it does not kill you to read chinese once in a while because you are CHINESE.

Please note that THERE ARE NO SLASHES IN THE COMMANDS. SO JUST TYPE THE COMMAND AS IT IS, E.G. help

The anti-spam feature I mentioned above works like this: if you type too many messages, regardless of length, in a short period of time(no idea about the exact numbers but my estimate is 5 in 3 seconds) you will get a warning telling you to stop spamming. It's written in Chinese. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked by the server (please note that I can't unblock you, and if you were spamming in the first place I wouldn't want to) from sending any messages for...crap how long was it. 2 or 5 minutes. One of those numbers.

The group is bbqun because the website is www.bbqun.com . Why didn't I use something else, like multiply? Because I was lazy :P and I happened to know of BBqun, so since it's all on msn......

Hi guys Francis here. Ignore the title, I just found it to be very cool haha.

OKAY class chalet haha. umms I've checked the website, november is still open for bookings. and according to the votes stated, the chalet is going to be held in early November. is 8-11 November okay for everyone? then we can checkout at 11/11 HAHA. oh but then the venue right, after thinking through, will be a bit impractical leh. cause you see arh, if we hold it at sentosa, it's either nothing to do or go play the exex stuff. Ya. then if we hold it like at costa sands still got kbox and food supply haha xD whatcha guys think?

k but anyway if like that right, if we book 2 rooms for 2 nights and without ntuc membership card, it cos nearly $600. about $16 per person. it's costa sands downtown east by the way.
